I like to think that the reason most everyone has the day off today is because they're celebrating my birthday. I guess Martin Luther King Jr. was pretty special too.
As a mother of two girls, I am already reaping the benefits of being on the receiving end of the celebration. Before I got out of bed this morning, my oldest, age 7, had decorated a coat rack like a tree and piled up many presents that she had made and wrapped for me underneath it. She also had the table all set for breakfast, including placemats, napkins, plates, knives, forks, and spoons! I think I'll be teaching her how to make this coconut cake soon, so that I don't have to drool over this one.
I'll make that cake for you when we come visit in 2 weeks!
ReplyDeleteoh, that sweet girl - she sure loves her mommy!
ReplyDelete:) Happy Birthday! sounds like a nice one.
ReplyDeleteWow, sounds like you had a wonderful birthday! That cake looks so scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe your sweet girl is already 7 years old!!
Happy Birthday Em!! xoxoxoxo!!!
ReplyDeleteFor my birthday before we flew out, my mom got me the BEST coconut layer cake from the bakery that I've ever, ever had!! I was in love, and wanted to eat it all. But that would have ended my birthday on a very bad note--nausea. Good judgement won out, by my taste buds were screaming for MORE! :)
