Picking Daisies

I'm busy sewing, very busy! This Saturday I'll be selling these cute dresses and more, in downtown San Luis Obispo at Picking Daisies from 12-4pm. I really enjoy these boutique opportunities. They give me a chance to see in person what people like and don't like about the things I make. I get a certain kind of nervous excitement the days before the actual event, when I'm thinking of all the different ways my creations will be received. And in the meantime, all my custom sewing and alterations are piling up, waiting for their turn in my machine.

p.s. That lovely picture above was taken by my good buddy, Toni. I am so blessed to have her be so generous with her picture taking. She has a way of capturing her subject that I never could. Thank you Toni!

The Birth of a Garden

Grow little ones, grow!! This is the first of many posts I plan on sharing about this garden I call joy. It is so many things to me, including family, peace, answered prayers, life. So many hours of labor have been put into this plot of space (90% done by my very muscly and manly husband), which started out as a forgotten tall grass covered empty space. So many more hours we plan on spending here, nurturing and harvesting our vegetables, and our souls.

Everyday Napkins, Napkins Everyday

My sister got me started on cloth napkins. (She's always the first to do everything). We use them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I love them for so many different reasons, but probably the number one reason is that there so darn cute! I've made a bunch from some Amy Butler fabric leftover from projects around the house. I've also been gifted some and if I see a cute vintage set while I'm out thrifting I'll grab them. As you can see, I'm not particular about using exact matching ones, I actually prefer this eclectic mix. On direction from my sister (there she goes again!), I recently found my new favorite source for cloth napkins, Picking Daisies. This new shop downtown knows cloth napkins, it's all they do, and they do it well! I love meeting inspiration so close to home.

Spring Boutique

These sundresses are all ready to belong to some darling little girl. They can't wait to meet her! They can't wait to run around on the beach, or even in the grass. They love to go to birthday parties and barbeques. They especially love it when the sun is warm and bright.

They will be available for purchase at the Pleated Poppy's 2nd annual Spring Boutique! The Spring Boutique will be Wednesday, April 8th, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. You can contact the pleated poppy, or myself, for the specifics. There will be many local artists offering such things as jewelry, photography, children's accessories, aprons, and more!! Wish you could come join us!!

Happy Birthday to You...

Happy Birthday to Ruby, happy birthday to you!! The big 7!! So many things you can do now. Such a beautiful young lady.

Ruby is a girl who loves to laugh, loves to dance around. She's smart, coordinated, artistic. She still doesn't like it when the party sings Happy Birthday- she would rather skip that part. Here's to more great birthdays!
