more hats!

I made some more hats! This batch goes out to all them ladies who need one. They're in my shop now, a variety of colors, and slightly different circumferences.

By the way, how do you take a picture of an adult wearing a hat, when no one else is around but you and your little girls? Any pointers on taking a picture of yourself wearing a hat? And who remembers to arrange their curtains when taking pictures of themselves wearing a hat?

the new me

I am now officially one week into my new fitness routine! A new years resolution, you ask? Not really. It just happens to coincide with the new year. I tend to get motivated to do a little extra exercise sporadically, and then due to whatever reasons, I slip back into my usual.

This time I think I am really extra motivated. I've been waiting for my belly to trim up after having my baby (she's almost 5 now), but it just doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Well, it jiggles a little when I walk, but it doesn't really leave my body.

So, my new routine is a little jog/walk. Pretty hard core, huh? Now, I hate running, always have, but from my experience it really shapes me up quicker than say surfing does. I will still be surfing 2-3 days a week, more if I can, but that just seems to maintain my physical health. I hope that by writing this down, knowing that other people are now aware of my new goal, I will feel a bit more accountable to keep it up.

Anyone care to join me for a jog?

decking the halls

The girls and I, my two little ones and another darling little friend, spent some time Christmas Crafting yesterday. Ever since I saw this idea over at wisecraft, I've been gathering old wool sweaters. Such a cozy way to deck the halls.

The girls and I cut a big bowl full of sweater squares, and then strung them onto our wire. The seven year olds loved it and were very capable. The four year old got about 4 squares onto her wire before she moved onto being a dancing princess.

For the trees, I cut triangles out of the sweaters and sewed them up into cone shapes. I added a round base, stuffed them with batting, and then added a handful of rice at the bottom before sewing up the opening. An instant forest.

Never Ever

I've never made a stocking before. My mom made mine when I was a kid. She made my brother one too. She's a fabulous seamstress/artist. She has now made each of her six grandkids a stocking. They are all so much more detailed and glitzy than ours as kids were (she must have had more time or something).

Just the other day, a friend of ours asked if I could make a secret stocking for his wife for Christmas. The first idea that came to me was RUFFLES. Of course it would have to have ruffles. This one here isn't for her, it's for the next Christmas boutique I'll be at next weekend. I'm planning on making a few more to sell at the boutique before I start in on the custom stocking for our friend. I can't believe I've never made a stocking before.

Boutique Booty

The boutique at Lindsey's house last night was a blast! As usual. Her house was festive and warm, filled with yummy treats, good friends, and amazing talent. I have no actual pictures of the event, unfortunately, but this is Ruby and me gathering my boutique booty hours before the show.

My hope is to add a few of these crotcheted newsboy caps to my etsy shop, and we'll see what else.
