Stockpiling

It's that time again, where I find myself crocheting every spare second of the day. I've got a deadline to meet, and I want to be prepared. Lindsey is hosting her annual Holiday Boutique again this year, and has so graciously invited me to come sell whatever it is I sell.

The crochet hats I made last year are so fun to make, and were so well received, that I though I would start there. But this year, I'm including something for the boys. I'm also making some newsboy beanies in boy stripes. It's my version of the classic hang ten t-shirt.

The boutique is always so much fun, and very festive, due to Lindsey's gift of decorating and hospitality. Come check us out Thursday, December 3rd, from 6 until 9.

The Anatomy of a Surf Trade

Surf Trade: When 2 or more mommies take turns watching each others kids while the other mommy goes surfing. Most often done right on the beach, in extreme weather conditions, or rare napping conditions, can be done while one mommy stays at home with the children while the other mommy drives to the waves.

As a new mother, the idea that you can't surf whenever you feel like it can hit like a ton of bricks. When you discover that there are other "surf moms" feeling the same thing, the next logical step is to start showing up at the beach with your surfboard, in hopes that you can slip into the water, catch a couple waves, and get to the beach before your nursing baby misses you.

As the years go by, those nursing babies feel right at home playing with their beach buddies while their moms get much needed time in the ocean. It's a win-win situation. The surf trade is a way of life for us.
